Sarawak Trip

Gawai is here!! Nyirup Nyirup!! (Epi 6)

Previously on epi 4, I slept at 10pm while admiring the awesomeness of fireflies.

Like they always say, everything comes with a cost. The awesome view comes with a back ache. As we were visitors, there were no mattress for us. We were forced to sleep on thin Mat. (So thin it doesn’t add any comfort to the sleep). So, basically we were sleeping on hard wood planks.  T3T I thought my sleep was bad until…

It seems my P.A, Mel encountered a paranormal activity on the first night. She heard a little girl repetitively counting numbers from 1 to 9 in English in the middle of the night.  The scary part is that.. there’s no little girl in our house or 2-3 houses next to ours. If there is, she won’t be speaking in English. Jeng Jeng Jeng..

Then again, le P.A, Mel does not believe in paranormal activities or beings from underworld, and so she concluded that it was her brother who dream talk and pretend to be a little girl.  (which makes no sense at all, imo =..=)

May I know anyone here do not believe in ghost/devil/demon? and anyone here who do not believe in aliens?

Oh, Finally, it’s Gawai!!!!

Just like Chinese New Year or Raya, they visit doors to doors but in one big group, and everyone sits outside the house on Mat and starts chit chating, eating snacks and lots of drinking.

The owner of the door walked around with a bottle of liquor and a  glass. Every grown ups are require to drink the liquor in one shot. The number of shot depends on how many rounds the owner manage to make and get to you. XD

That’s the most awkward and funny moment. I can’t help to laugh at him in the end, sorry. XP

(actual speech quotes)

I didn’t see the dog after that. Maybe…

Le star of the longhouse.

Le stinky dog.

Oh, everyone like this dog though and another twin of his.

Wait what’s that behind it?

I didn’t know we have a political party branded product before this.

As there weren’t much families that came back for Gawai. The visiting lasts for a well only..

To kill time, we head over to the jetty to relax, read books and drawing..

It’s a very relaxing place to be, with the breeze, the view and also the calm river.

Speaking of calm river.. it’s actually very very dangerous..

P.A’s dad has warned me about it…

It seems my stupid P.A, do not know what it’s a warning and what’s superstitious. I actually hoped a crocodile will show up back then to teach her a lesson.

Speaking of crocodile attacks, just a few months ago, a guy was eaten by a crocodile in a town nearby when he had an urge and pooed by the river.

Because it was a big day, we decided to have a whole chicken for dinner.

So P.A Papa brought us to the farm to catch our dinner.

Hello chicken~

Thank you for this..

Oh Hello Monkey~ thank you for…

No, we did not eat the monkeys.

We had a night visit that night. It was an awesome experience to walk in the jungle in pitch black with only a torch. You never knows what you gonna step on. XD

The trip was only 15 minutes but..

Sighh.. sad case.

Well, that ends another night at the longhouse.

to be continued.. Finale tomorrow!!

P/S: Sorry for the grammar and spelling mistakes.

Gawai Longhouse Sarawak Trip

Sweet Revenge at the Longhouse (Episode 5)

Episode 1, 2, 3, 4,

Previously on episode 4, a sagging boobs nanny wanna ‘peek’ me bath. XD

Actually, I didn’t bath there but had all my baths at the waterfall nearby. It’s actually the same thing, the only difference is everyone is bathing together which makes it less awkward.

The journey took around 10 minutes, through the forest and no, there’s no wooden path like the one in the photo.

The villagers use water from the top of the waterfall (not this small waterfall, there’s few levels up the hill) for their daily activities. I heard they gonna use it to generate electricity to the longhouse in near future.

back at the long house..after the bath

Revenge is sweet. 😀

Someone is making “Tumbok”..punched potato leaves? 😛

Our dining “table”.

Firewood for our “stove”

This is where we used to kill time during the evening before dinner.

We are warned to not stay near the river as there might be hungry crocodile around.

Sun setting. Time to head home.

:: Later that night ::

It will be my first time to sleep in a Longhouse. First thing, I noticed is..mosquitoes! Although, they closed all the windows and doors, a few of this fella managed to sneak in the house.

PA(Personal Assistant) Mel saw me blew a mosquito away instead of killing it and started questioning me. I lectured her bout my theory.. then suddenly..a bug land on her.

it turns out it’s not a Mosquitoes. OAO Poor firefly. More and more fireflies kept sneaking into the “house” after that and within minutes we have a Milky Way in the house.

Oh yea, they sleep early when there’s nothing to do. There’s no TV in the place we stayed.

To be continued..

Gawai Longhouse Sarawak Trip

City cat culture shock at le Longhouse (Epi 4)

Previously, Longhouse trip…sagging boobs ARGHH my eyes!!!

After that, we reached my friend’s pintu. Longhouse are divided into Family rooms called Pintu(door), one door is for a family.

First thing I noticed upon arriving is that everyone here speaks Iban language. Abuden. :|They do speak Sarawak Malay/Sarawak language or even English for some but with heavy Iban slang in it. I can hardly understand too.

Most of the time, I have no idea what they are talking about. All I did was smile. XD

I did picked up a couple of words like.

Nama – What

Makai – Eat

Jalai – Walk

Pulai – Back

EngKa – Don’t Want

Ka – Want

Manok – Chicken

Janik – Pork/Pig

Air Wom – Waterfall

Nyirup – Drink

Tambak – Stupid

Lol most of the words are related with what I did over there. Food, Bath & scolding PA. LOL

The longhouse we stayed are really very isolated, due to the little amount of people who stay around this area, no basic utilities are provided here as it is not profitable to do so.

My PA has warned me about this and asked me to prepare entertainment of my own for these few day. Actually, I wasn’t the only city cat there, the PA’s brother has not been visiting the longhouse for almost 10 years. So he too are not used to it.

The first thing he did when he arrived was…

=.= Sibling alike. Overly Attached Girlfriend and Boyfriend.

PA Papa also offered me his phone but…

*writing my will*

PA papa~~ Why you kept pouring cold water on me. T3T *i iz foreveralone cat*

Seriously, I was having a bad luck, one of the family is having a wedding dinner back in the cat city during Gawai, hence most of the families are not coming back longhouse for Gawai. 🙁

Beside that, the solar battery to our Pintu was spoiled. 😐 So the laptop I brought with me is just a piece of useless metal there. GG.com.

Lucky, I had my camera with me. So I went around and took so photos..

The Verandah where everyone hangouts because it’s freaking hot in the Pintu.

The bags you seeing in the photo are all Rice. There are so many rice that you can eat for months to year. As the storage hut is under renovation, hence they kept all the rice at the Verandah.

Le inside of the Pintu.

The traditional longhouse. No partition, no rooms, one big room for all. Living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining room in one, 4 in one combo XD. Because the kitchen is in the same room, the room is usually very hot when they are preparing food.

The source of heat in the room. Our traditional old school stove. XD Cooking food the old school way because gas stove is too mainstream. hahaha

What I’m seeing next is the most shocking part of the room.

Behold, the toilet, balcony and bathroom. XD

What’s so shocking?

For unknown reason, I feel insecure..
