Sarawak Independence Day

Today is a historical day!!

50 years ago, 22 July 1963, it was our Sarawak Kingdom independence day when I told a Sarawakian friend about that… he went..

Like what Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui, the Kuching mayor and leader of the Sarawak United People’s Party said in MSCC meeting on 1962: “Let us become independent first and then we will decide whether to form Malaysia or not.” hahaha..and we did.

.

.

Saw this by the Kuching Waterfront (riverside park) just now, Love the old flag..

..especially this big one on the Square Tower.

That moment when the Kingdom’s flag is raised…awesomeness

Our 3rd Sarawak Anthem.

Today, there’s a remembrance celebration in the city centre to remind us all of this day.

A day to remember sovereignty our Kingdom had, our autonomy within Federation, our founding fathers’ struggles and fights and all the heroes who sacrifice for this fair land of ours.

This fair land we all called Home and brothers sisters of different looks but with only one name we all proud to called of, Sarawakian.

The state of independence defers for each person, some feels we lost it, some feel independence in heart (fuyoh emotional XD), some said once independence, forever independence (hmm.. okay) but no matters, what matters is never to forget this:

“Agi Idup Agi Ngeleban. Dum Spiro Spero.” ^^

Now go out now and eat your Mi Kolok/Mi Kampua/Sarawak Laksa! Happy Holiday!! …. to those who work in my company! hahaha…

P/S: Will do a Sarawak Kingdom history post comical way one day ^^ You guys wanna read ma?

.

.

oh, Here’s an article on the subject and an Independence wish from a West Malaysian. Feel free to read it.
