A Happy Independence Day to Sarawakians.
A day that is forgotten and removed from the history book.
A day to remind us that we were once a country of 100 years and the day where Sarawak returned to it’s sovereign country status after 17 years of British colonization before losing it again.
Maybe one day I shall make a cartoon story about the kings and Sarawak. XD As many parts of the story were not told/written or removed or even altered in the history textbooks.

You sound like you don’t like Sarawak to be a part of Malaysia… *sniff sniff* :’(

It’s not like we don’t want but we were treated not as a part of it.
No, we always think Sarawak is better off on its own. Sensitive I know, but unlike Malaya, Sarawak was not dominated by the British Empire. We were an independent country as far as I know, under British protection. That is why things are a lot more peaceful in Sarawak, and we pure Sarawakians will always be proud of that.
It is VERY sad to see Malaysian Government hiding such important facts from history books, in order to “brainwash” our younger generation, feeding them lies.
Jian, go make that story comic on Sarawak Kingdom.

No for not telling ? or no for what? XD
Ya, we were independent country before the British but remember that we were ceded to British and turn into colony.
It was a big news back then with a big title saying the day sovereignty dies when a sovereign country turn into a colony.
I heard the formation of Malaysia is actually different from what we are thought.
Yes, i think you should! I, on the other hand, embraces the fact we were surrendered to form Federation of Malaysia. But, I believe it is not a good thing to hide our land historical heritage. There are many reasons why Sarawak turned out to be really diverse and we blend so much with each other’s cultures. And the reasons date as far back as our history. So, I really support the idea of having the REAL history of Sarawak being told and figure out how in the world we actually agreed to end up our independence to be apart of a federation. The two sides of the coins must be told!

I believed when our forefathers forge and agreed on the formation, it was based on mutual beneficial and agreements but somehow down the road, the agreement was either changed or ignored. You can try search around. Thanks to the internet, people can share what they found out and I was surprise to know the history that is not told. The other side of the coin like you said.
This story is not cover by Buku Text Sejarah. Miao… faster teach me this fact!

A lot was told. Like the forefather of Sabah and Sarawak. The Sarawak Rangers. The warrior, Rentap etc.
There are many stories. I shall try and compile and tell one by one, one day
For this 22 July, it’s the day when British hand over Sarawak back to the people and also the day our first CM, Stephen Ningkan Kalong is appointed.
He was our first CM and the one who fought for a multicultural country and our rights but sadly he was removed by force later due to it.
once known as a country, under the british government, but then, known as a state. sad truth. but i still love it. whenever i heard sarawak anthem anywhere, my spine chills. story about sarawakian freedom fighters eh?

Once known as a country before the British then turn into a colony.
Usually those turn into colony are yet a country.
Anyway, it turns back to a country but reduced to a state later.
From what I read, it suppose to be 3(4) countries under one roof but somehow turned into one of the 13.
uh hum.
I will hum to it sometimes XD
I afraid it will accidentally touch politics.
which I forbidden to write about.
will support your stories! can’t wait to read them. malaysia have too much untold stories

FROM 100 YEAYS AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY TO 70 YEARS A COLONY?
Most of you have your heart in the right place. Yes, it is sensitive issue for those who rule us.
We can talk about it but we feel the pressure against such talk.
Sarawak was an independent country from 1841 to 1941 and then became a Japanese colony in 18941, British colony in 1945 and now many say a Malayan colony like Sabah in 1963.
Most colonies in the world have been “de-colonised” since the 1960s. The most recent was Southern Sudan which fought 50 years for independence. East Timor fought for 25 years.
In Sarawak there was a guerrilla war of independence following the anti-Malaysia uprising on Dec 8 1962 just passed and did not stop till1990. But very few of us knew about this. This website tells the hushed up side of the story: http://youtu.be/m4NDlB2jHUY
What were these freedom fighters fighting for? In the 1960s they opposed the British Malayan Malaysia plan to tansfer colonial rule from Britain to Malaya. Many now say this is the reality. We are still a colony. Why?
How many of us know about this history? Our struggle for independence from foreign rule?
There are many websiites where you can read on what happened:
